To God be all the glory and honor for what great things He has done in me and thru me. It has been a very blessed day! I won't even talk about how the minivan I was in broke down on the highway on way to park to where I was left stranded with non-english speaking Kenyans for over an hour wondering what in the world was going to happen becuase I had NO way of getting a hold of Zach. I won't talk about that BECAUSE the minivan had more than 25 kids packed into it and when we got to the park were met by 25 or more kids for over 50 kids and 20 adults that I got to minister to. The day went great once we arrived until now as I write this.
The Kids Day was at the park where there was actually a blow up bounce house and slide combo, along with a hand driven ferris wheel for the smaller kids. I broke out the stickers that was purchased with money from one of my friends back home. As I opened them, Cars for the boys and Princesses for the girls, the kids bombarded me. I began by placing them on each childs left cheek but by the time I was finished there were stickers on both cheeks, forehead, chin, ears, arms, etc upon the request of the children. I have lots of pictures and video. There were 3 rols of each type of sticker and we didn't even use 1 up, so I'm so thankful to be able to leave them with stickers to give kids for a long time to come. I then blew up 8 large balloons that had rubberbands, the punch kind, and let the kids share and play with them. One made it through the whole day...haha.
I then pulled out (3) things of bubbles and mass hysteria ensued. So much fun watching the kids run around striving to pop every bubble before it hits the ground, giggling the whole way.
After that settled down I broke out the guitar and began to just play the simple chords that I know and a group of kids came to dance and sing. I taught them the motions and repeat parts to Aint No Rock (rock, rock, rock), the wave motions & LaLa's to Every Move I Make, the shouts and motions to Shout To The North, the motions and words to This Little Light Of Mine, they knew Jesus Loves Me already, and then sang with Mike playing guitar the 2 songs I've learned in Swahili.
After the music the children sat down and I explained the bracelets that the ladies of the church helped make more than enough for the kids. Enough that they will be able to give out these bracelets to 100+ more kids/adults and there is still another role of twine and half of the beeds. Praise God for that gift and how it will be used here in Nairobi! As I explained the colors a brother translated but the kids caught on even in English. I then handed all of the kids bracelets and the adults standing there. While the translator taught the kids using an illustration book, I walked around the park and gave everyone, child and adult, a bracelet and tried to explain as best I could as some probably didn't understand. I at least made sure they knew they were free gifts, from America, and that God loves them. God can do the rest..
Afterward, I went into the restaurant near with Zach and bought everyone lunch so they could eat after the teaching. Thank you God for the job you gave me so that I could bless these wonderful people and children out of the abundance of your blessing. I pray that these children, with the leadership of the church, will come to Christ and grow to be a wave of true Christians in Nairobi in the near future!
From there we went to church for the last night of revival and a revival it was. God was real and thick and allowed me to be merely a vessel of His message. Words cannot describe what my heart feels right now nor how He moved amongst His people tonight with simple words from a simple Mzungu Mnono (Fat White Boy) like me. I am so humbled that Baba Mungu (Father God) would use me. I preached on "Keep Your Eyes On God or you may miss out on the blessings He has for you" using the story of Moses and Aaron striking the rock for water...when God told him to Speak to the rock. (I have some of the message on video but believe Zach got the whole thing on audio) WE ARE NOT ALONE and God wants to bless us but not if we disobey Him.
I am waiting now on Zach to get here so we can call Fred, so I can find out when our bus ride is tomorrow. They asked me to preach again in the morning but I don't know when the bus ride is. Agnus says probably 8-9am but I'll be back next Sunday morning, so maybe I'll preach that service instead, as my flight is next Sunday night at 11:30pm.
So God's ministry here in Nairobi has came to a close for me but I pray that what God has directed me to say and do will have lasting impact on these beautiful people and that they will continue to win souls for Christ with maybe some more practical knowledge of how and a new revived passion to do so.
Pray4me as I travel tomorrow.
In Christ,
KYLE
